From: schmegma@cris.com (PS) Subject: where to locate radar detector?etc. Date: Mon, 4 Sep 1995 01:02:47 -0400
Where do Miata experts put their radar detectors? I have had my car for a couple of months, and I am perplexed/ puzzeled /befuddled. I am not talking about remote mounted, 2 peice units, just a plain old Passport radar detector (about the size of a credit card and 3/4 inch thick). I have been putting it on the poor excuse for a sun-visor, but bumps cause the thing to bounce and bang on the frame. This is annoying and is scratching the frame. (Bumps cause the CD player to skip too - grrrr) So - I could stick it to the instrument cluster, but I don't know if I could bring myself to put some mega-sticky permanent thing on the car. Any ideas? I haven't been using the detector often lately - I just keep with the traffic. There's much less turbulence at 65 than 75. Side notes: just waxed my car this weekend with Meguars. Nice shine. But how many applications should the 16 oz. bottle be good for? Based on my usage, 2.5. Did I use too little? One more question - where can I get a hard top? Winter is coming, and I plan on driving the car. I read $900 is the going rate - who can I call for a catalog, and does that price include a finished/painted top? Top up vs. top down? I drive 40 miles each way to work off of 128 in Mass, and I always have the top down (luckly, I have a buzz cut, or a baseball cap handy). I enoy the wind and noise, and the looks of other people, checking out my car but trying to not make eye-contact with me. (For some reason, I notice alot of mini-vans loaded with kids and they all go hyper, giving me the thumbs up, and waving.) Follow up to a previous question I asked about egine tapping at start-up - it has minimalized now that it is no longer hotter than heck out, but I will go to synthetic when I get it chnaged in a week or two. Thanks for any tips, Pete S. 93 Black /Tan,
