My latte' must have been extra strength this fine morn', because I'm just perkin' away with trival questions! Anyway, has anyone ever seen a kit to convert the Miata's center console to that of an M2 Miata? (See page 71 of Jay Lamm's "Miata Universe" for a picture, next to a picture of another non-R blue R package, with power mirrors.) The center console "box" is gone, replaced with a piece of carpeting that covers the transmission hump. The radio/HVAC panel simply cuts off at the bottom where the box would have started, and the shifter has a nice little ring screwing the shift boot to the hump. The kit would work only with crank-window Miatas (there's nowhere for the power window switches to go). But it would be easy to replicate, it seems. Not to mention bitchin'. Anyone? The M2 shown also has a bad-ass Momo steering wheel (three-spoke, leather-wrapped with a yellow stripe at the top). Can one buy this exact wheel in America? I love the yellow stripe. -- Eric Amador, L.A. Team Miataless
