Hello dear friends...
What a wonderful day this was!! I worked the last
3 nights in a row, 12 hour shifts, graveyard (7p-7:30a)
1.5 hours from home. BUT... I have 4 days off now!!
Arriving home to sunny OCEANSIDE, CA., it was about
65 degrees... warming quickly to about 72. Tired
as I was, who could sleep with a 1999 Miata sitting
in the garage, fully waxed and polished... just
BEGGING to be let loose to fly down toward the
beach!
Well, that's exactly what I did. I and my
daughter spent 2 hours cruising the beach
(we have a road right on the beach waterfront!)
and looking at old homes in the area... BOSE
stereo playing my favorite tunes (Christian
contemporary rock) and spending some nice time
with my daughter (Cara) as well.
That prior CLICK in the left rear is GONE...
from either tightening the boot or tightening
the license plate frame (did both at once..
whoops!). The white Miata was bright in the
sunshine and drove WONDERFUL!
I owned two 1995's prior to this, and let me
tell ya... THERE'S A DIFFERENCE in power and
drivability. There's no question about it,
the 1999 Miata is truly an improvement (but not
better per se.. if ya know what I mean.. and I
mean.. a Miata is a Miata.. any year!) That
extra horsepower over my 1995 is nice too! I
remember hearing about intake, exhaust, timing
and a slew of other things that could be done
to my 1995 to make it peppier... but the 1999
has all that extra and more (personal observation,
no flame intended).
What a nice drive.. and.. tomorrow... THE
SOCAL and SDMC get together at ORTEGA HIGHWAY
for a neat run (which I am also bringing my
daughter to).

Hope to see ya there if you are in the area.
I'll have the White 99 with a bra!
Hangover Run
Date: Saturday, January 2
Time: 10 a.m. departure
Place: Ortega Business Plaza, San Juan Capistrano
Run Leader: K. Zack Broadbent, 714-449-9280
Notes:
Caravan to the Hangover Run with other SDMC members, arrive in time to socialize with members of SOCALM:
Meet: 8:30 - Saturday morning
Place: Pea Soup Andersen's parking lot
I-5 at Palomar Airport road exit
This joint run between SOCALM and SDMC is a repeat of the 1998 run which so successfully held off the rain until the very
last minute. This time we'll beat the rain for sure. The run will take Ortega Highway to Lake Elsinore, then we'll take
some back roads that wind along the border between Riverside and San Diego Counties, looping around to end in Temecula.
Some of the scenery is just out of this world. At the end of the run, we will stop at one of the Temecula wineries and then
head over to Oscar's for lunch. The run will end at the 15 Freeway so it'll be easy for you to get home, regardless of
where home might be. If you decide to sample wine- drivers are asked to remember the laws about drinking and driving.
Directions: From I-5 exit on Ortega Highway (74), and go East. Approximately half a mile after you exit, turn Right on
Rancho Viejo and then turn immediately Left into the Ortega Business Plaza. We will meet at the far end of the parking lot.
Take care..
