If I understand them correctly, the responses people have sent me
privately suggest that there are at least three different types of 1.6
JR CAI elbow out there:
(1) Mine (which happens to be polished) has about a 3" outer diameter
inlet and about a 2.5" outlet. The inlet side is flared (it has a
steeply stepped-up diameter that looks almost like it's meant to receive
another pipe inside it, except the elbow's interior flares smoothly,
without a step).
(2) Larry Alster has two 1.6 kits, one older and one newer, both of
which have similarly-flared inlets, each about 2 11/16" in outer
diameter; they are about 1/8" smaller on the outlet side.
(3) Bill Gusky has a 1.6 kit which has a outlet (about the same size as
the throttle body inlet, or maybe 2.6") that is actually larger than the
inlet.
Any others want to contribute to this survey? Can anyone explain the
variations? (Again, the issue arose only because I was having trouble
fitting a flex hose to the elbow on my kit--through Ian Dacany's
kindness I now have some replacement flex ducting that works.)
TIA,
Eric Amador
