Eric,

The instructions on Miata.net which call for a 1.4 watt resistor
have been wrong and confusing people for a long time now. I hope
the person responsible will correct it so we can quit going thru
this cycle repeatedly.

1.4 is a typo. It should have been 1/4 (one key over). The resistor
is going into a low-current signal line; it needs only minimal
power-handling capability.

Since Radio Shack had no 3 ohm resistors for sale when I did this,
I bought one of those 50 cent packages of 10 ohm resistors and
twisted three of them together (in parallel) to get a total resistance
of around 3.1 or 3.2 ohms. This has been working well for
many months now. It should work for you too.
